Written by Scott Edwards Have you ever wanted something that you cannot have? Everyone has been in that position, and demons are no different than the rest of us is what Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight explains. This film is a great look at what happens when the minions of hell come to town and try to take back what they think is theirs. The Collector is running down a man named Brayker trying to locate a Key, an ancient relic that has been handed down from chosen one to chosen one when the stars align to tell them that the time to move on has come. Needing to find a successor appears to be the hardest thing for these protectors to locate, but somehow, they are able to do it without too much effort. Finding sanctuary in a church that has been turned into a hotel, Brayker is able to protect the those trapped with him by pouring a drop of blood at every entrance point to keep the demons at bay. But Brayker is challenged at every step, by the demon outside and by everyone inside of the old building. Not knowing who he is able to trust, Brayker has to take his protection detail to the extreme, as to not let the demon in. Demon Knight is a great look at the ongoing battle between good and evil. One man is filled with knowledge as to what will happen if the dark forces enter the hotel, along with what will happen if one person has succumbed to the evil that is waiting outside of the fortress walls. Being part of the Tales from the Crypt series, you know what is in store for you at the end. Demon Knight challenges you at every turn as you try to decide who to side with. Yet for being a lower budget horror film the cast is loaded with some great actors. Thomas Haden Church (Roach), or Dick Miller (Uncle Willy) will catch your attention, but William Sadler (Brayker) will stand out above the rest with his incredible dedication to what is right and wrong. Followed by a great performance by Jada Pinkett Smith (Jeryline) who plays a convict on work release, but you will be mesmerized by Billy Zane (The Collector) who is just for a lesser term, fantastic. What I enjoyed most about this flick, is just how much it challenges faith, our perception of it and more importantly, what we believe to be right and wrong. At every corner the characters are challenged by the Collector and tempted and it's incredible to see just how weak some of them are and how well the rest of them resist his ‘offers.’ It's surprising depth for a Tales from the Crypt story and makes it all the more enjoyable, and in a weird way, it left me wondering what would happen if someone was trapped in such a situation in real life and where their moral compass would be when challenged to the extreme. Would they do the right thing? Or give in to the easy way out? Either way, take a look at this one, and sit back and relax as you contemplate your end of days…or just enjoy your popcorn.

Written by Scott Edwards In the end, there is nothing more important to most people than family. Always being there to take care of you, your family could be the only people that you can ever trust. It would be difficult to make it through your days without them by your side, to help you, to teach you and most importantly, to keep you inspired. But on the opposite side of this, you can have a crazy family that only wants to suck you dry and plays heavily on your emotions. The crazy families are the most difficult to get along with, but you must remember that they are still part of your life and even though you may not want to see or talk to them on a daily basis, they will be waiting for you in your time of need. Brielle Lake has tried her hardest to keep herself at arm’s length from her family, especially her father, but when she gets a phone call in the middle of the night informing her that her grandfather has died, she is a little confused. Thinking that both of her grandparents were already dead, she finds out that they were not and now she and her sisters have inherited the old hotel that their grandparents ran. Going to visit her sister Samantha, Brielle sees that she is still not in the best of shape and wants to sell the hotel sight unseen. But knowing that it could be something special, Brielle and her boyfriend Ben arrange a camping trip up to the property to see if it has any appeal or if they should let it go for the money, and Samantha surprisingly agrees to come along. Arriving at the Lake Hotel, Brielle, her sister Kelly, Ben and his friends Bill, Amy and Tanya are surprised to see how out of the way the location really is. Talking to Gloria who runs the front desk, they find out that Samantha arrived before them and that the hotel may not be the money maker that they expected, but no matter, they came to the place to go camping and to have some fun. While not being able to find Samantha, the group does not give it a second thought as she is a mess and never delivers with what she promises. Heading out to the lake to take a swim, the group has a great time, but when Bill and Tanya head off into the woods to collect some fire wood, everything takes a change for the worse. Being chased by two crazed killers that have already murdered Samantha, Bill and Tanya never make it back to the lake and Amy goes missing as well and while Ben believes that his good friend is cheating on his girlfriend again, he sees Bill hanging from a tree and knows that there is something sinister going on. Running back to the RV, Ben tells the group about what has happened, and they try to get away, but the killers are right on their heels. Getting back to the road, Ben, Brielle and Kelly are picked up by a local cop that is ready to hear their stories. Taking them back to the hotel for questioning, the three are starting to suspect that there is something funny going on with the situation as there seems to be nothing being done when it comes to the murder of their friends. Talking it out with Sheriff Chuck, the group is told that the state police will be taking over, but when they arrive at their next destination and find themselves tied up, they know that they are in far more trouble than they were before. This is one of those movies that frightens you on many levels, but with known killers on the loose, you would never expect a nice old woman and a cop to be in on the events as well. This movie houses some disturbing scenes and a sick storyline about keeping the family line pure. I liked how the sisters Kelly and Brielle were left in the dark about who and what their family actually is. Being upset with their father about not telling them they had an extended family; they understand why when they meet them. Even though this movie does not have the massive amounts of blood that you would expect from a psycho killer movie, when you do get to see it, you are not disappointed. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards Playing pranks on people for fun is one thing but doing it as a form of revenge is another. Needing to make sure that you will not hurt the person too badly and that they will forgive you is key to playing a good prank, but sometimes they are taken too far. If you want to keep your friends by being a jokester, it may be better to know how far you can take them before they break. There is nothing wrong with playing a good joke on somebody for fun, but if you are really looking to hurt someone, it may be better that you just avoid their company altogether. Getting ready to go on spring break, Cathy and Liz are discussing what has happened during the school year and Cathy is none too pleased. With her boyfriend Steve hooking up with another girl, she does not know if the relationship is over or not, but this trip will prove it one way or another. While Steve and Bill are getting ready for the trip as well, they are discussing the same thing and although Steve is sorry about what he did, he has not been able to catch Cathy’s ear about it and the two need to talk. With a great idea to head down to New Orleans this year to save money for food and drinks, the group is ready to roll on their adventure, but there may need to be stops along the way. Stopping at a gas station to rest and fill up, Bill finds a flyer about the Dark Ride opening back up to the public. Knowing that it has been closed for many years, he thinks it may be fun to check it out and possibly hold up there for the night to save money on a hotel room. The group agrees and is ready to make a slight detour to see the amusement park's scary ride, and after picking up a pseudo psycho hitchhiker in Jen, they are ready to get their scare on. Seeing a rent-a-cop taking a look around the area will not deter the group from heading in, but all of the doors are locked. Being able to find away in, Jim sets up the ride for action and lets his friends in for a good time. Choosing to stay back in the van, Cathy is still angry at Steve and does not want to be alone with him in the Dark Ride. While the group makes their way through the scary halls, they are able to locate a quiet portion of the ride to sit down and talk. As Jim starts to sober up, he remembers what he has heard about the ride and lets the group in on the history. With two little girls being killed on the ride years ago by a psycho killer, the ride was shut down since everyone was afraid of it happening again. Adding on to the story, Bill comes clean about living a town over and the girls that died were his cousins. Thinking that it is just a story, Steve gets ready to leave while Jen wants to take him someplace quiet. While checking out an empty room, Steve sees Cathy’s lifeless body against the wall and has a break down. But Cathy was fine and just wanted to play a joke on her soon to be ex-boyfriend. Leaving in a huff, the group does not hear from Steve when trying to get out of the building, but with all of the doors being locked from the outside, their night is about to get much more interesting. This movie may not contain the meaning of life, but it sure does have some great spatter value to it. I like this movie since it does not advertise more than it really is, and the characters are really fun in it. Just a teenage splatter film with some surprise kills, lots of screaming and a psycho with incredible power to carry out what he was born to do, kill. I liked how the story built up to the finale, with all of the legends surrounding the ride’s history, it was good to get the complete picture twice before seeing what could happen if the psycho was released back to his home. It is fun and has some good special effects that will leave you wondering what will happen the next time you take a ride through a Dark Ride. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards There is nothing wrong with packing up and leaving your old life behind. But just hoping that it doesn’t follow you is counterproductive. So many people think that just a change of scenery is enough to move on, however if you do not change your life altogether, you will just be in a different location with the same problems. When you are trying to run from your past, it is important to remember that you cannot pack it up with you, if that means leaving a couple photo albums behind, so be it. You need to find your own way to forget it and if you don’t, it will always come back to haunt you. Paul and Anne Sacchetti have found the perfect house to get away from their old life in. After losing their son a year ago, they need to find some sort of way to get by without thinking about him all of the time. While checking out her new house, Anne hears something in the basement and upon investigating, she finds her son’s old baseball glove. Knowing that her son has followed them to the new house, Anne wants to find a way to communicate with him and decides to call her friend May and her husband Jacob to come up for the weekend to conduct a séance. While Anne is of course, still happy with the house and the thought of her son being there puts her at ease, her blissful state is interrupted when a neighbor comes knocking with a disturbing message. Dave and his wife Maddie enter the old Dagmar house and tell the suffering couple about the terrible past it has had. Knowing that no stories will chase them off, Anne and Paul decide to pass the information on to their friends that have arrived. While they are waiting for May’s children to come to the house as well, the couples go out to eat and share everything that they have found out so far. Arriving late, Harry and his girlfriend Daniella have a choice to make, go to the restaurant or stay and eat at the house. Choosing to stay at the house, Harry hears strange things happening with the doors. With the noise coming from the basement, Harry goes down to check it out, while it appears that nothing is there, he misses the fact that there is someone standing behind him that takes the young man’s life where he stands. Trying to escape, Daniella also falls victim to the dark forces in the house. With both bodies hidden from the adults, Anne, Paul and their friends have no idea what is happening right below their feet. When hearing that the Sacchetti couple went out to eat, Dave wants to know exactly what was discussed and why the family has not been killed by the house yet. As long as the spirits are given a sacrifice, they leave the town alone, but when they are not happy, they are capable of wiping the town off of the map. Getting a group together to kill the family in the Dagmar home, Dave and the towns’ people have no idea what they are in for. While the ladies go into town, Jacob is ready to break all of the rules and conduct a séance with Paul before they are interrupted. Being able to connect with someone from the world beyond, Jacob becomes possessed by the former owner of the house, Lassander Dagmar, who has a beef to pick with the people of his former town. When the ladies come home, they see that Jacob has been taken by the dark forces and without a way to stop it, they must ride it out and see what happens. Little do they know that with all that is going on inside of the house, there is a force ready to kill them if they leave. I was extremely excited to see this movie when it hit theaters. Unfortunately, it never premiered anywhere near me, so thank goodness for streaming services, since I really did enjoy this movie. With all of the different types of horror movies out there, I am still a sucker for a good ghost story, and one that has to deal with revenge is just that much better. I like the storyline and the interactions between the characters are great, especially when Jacob becomes possessed. Even though it does not have a massive build up before the finale, it does not need one since you are told by Dave what has to happen. I have watched this movie several times now and I keep catching things in the shadows, which is where most of the scares come from, so make sure to pay attention to them, as the spirits in the house are looking for blood and when they get it, my goodness, it is just magical. Stay Scared! Written by John Edward Betancourt For the most part, modern horror anthologies tend to serve as twisted morality tales. The kind that feel like splatter-y versions of the stories of the Brothers Grimm and well, that’s not a bad thing by any means. Because that style of storytelling has treated us to tales where bad people get their just desserts, and they remind us to lead a better life, one that doesn’t involve screwing people over. But while these types of stories tend to shy away from deeper commentary, there are some horror anthology tales out there, that don’t shy from it in the slightest, and offer up some powerful commentary on our world and the human condition. Which is no easy task. For that kind of work usually takes a solid two-hour movie, the kind that uses all three acts to properly explore our world and our hearts. Which makes the ones that pull this off quite special for certain, and back in 1995, writer/director Darin Scott assembled a series of tales that just so happened to have incredible depth and commentary on modern issues that continue to plague our world in 2020, which makes Tales from the Hood quite the horror masterpiece. In part, because its wraparound story is vintage horror for certain, with its gothic setting and uncomfortable mystery and how it comes together is about as perfect as it gets. But what it does storytelling wise in its satellite stories is what truly makes this anthology so poignant and powerful. Because this is one of the few films out there to present the horror that is domestic violence in a frank manner and it is quite unsettling to see young Walter fear his mother’s boyfriend because of the pain he inflicts upon him, and it is downright heartbreaking to see him view a human being as a monster. And the relevancy and gravity of this vignette definitely haunts the viewer for certain, since we still hear tales of abuse in this manner in modern America and the relevant moments don’t end with this particularly unsettling and uncomfortable journey. Because this anthology also takes the time to tackle some supremely relevant issues in regard to the Black community. For it offers up a unique parable on black on black crime, one that confronts an uncomfortable truth. In that, systemic racism and how African Americans are viewed as an afterthought has left some young black men lost, to the point where they are willing to take the lives of others without giving it a second thought. For if no one cares about who they are, why should other people matter to them? Plus, it also examines cultural appropriation and the power of white privilege by way of a unique story about a racist senator who sets up shop for his reelection campaign at a plantation where slaves were once tortured, and the visceral and raw nature of these tales absolutely give the audience great pause. But truly, the centerpiece of this particular film, is the story that is seemingly ripped from everyday headlines. For this tale, forces the audience to sit through the cold blooded murder of a black city councilman and black rights activist at the hands of some dirty, dirty cops and this is the story that definitely sends chills down your spine for the most obvious of reasons, since it features visuals that we are bearing witness to, all too often. But this is also a tale that offers up justice as only a horror story can since one fateful night, that activist returns from the dead to exact his revenge. But while the fantasy portion of this story is entertaining for certain, the fact that this is still happening in America, definitely leaves you uncomfortable long after this story has come to a close. Yet while we’ve talked a lot about the commentary, make no mistake about it, this is a horror film through and through and the elements that we find in the wraparound story are present in these vignettes as well. Since they all feature gore and the fantastical and the undead as well. But what this movie has to say about our world simply cannot be ignored and truly the most horrifying element of this film, is how it puts the cruelty that only mankind is capable of, on display. Which truly makes this motion picture a tour de force storytelling wise, one that you need to see as soon as possible if you haven’t yet. Simply because this is a true modern classic, one that genuinely terrifies you in the most unique and brilliant ways imaginable. Written by Scott Edwards Throughout history there have always been accounts of the battles between good and evil. Even today we cannot seem to get away from this as people continue to kill in the name of something greater. The faith that these people house is tremendous and even though most of the time they are peaceful when showing it, there are others that take it to the next level. Finding a happy medium in one’s faith is more important now than it has ever been before, as times change and beliefs continue to be a focus for so many people to act upon. During her surprise birthday party, Angela Holmes is given one the best presents she has ever received, her father is finally in attendance. While everything seems to be going fine at the party, it is apparent that her father Roger and boyfriend Pete will never be friends, but that means little to Angela as she has all that she wants in life. While cutting a piece of cake, Angela slices open her finger and is forced to leave the party and get stitches at the hospital. Not wanting to go into the building, she is left no choice as both Roger and Pete insist on her finger being looked at by a doctor. As everything seems to be fine, Angela feels a little different when leaving the hospital, but those feelings are going to escalate as the days go on. As Angela’s attitude starts to change towards people, she is bit by a crow that broke through a window during her bus ride. Even though Pete insists that she go to see the doctor again, she wants to wait since her father is still in town and wants to spend more time with him. But after passing out on the couch, Roger and Pete are forced to make her return to the hospital once again. Seeing the family roaming the halls again, Father Lozano stops and talks to Roger about what is going on, but even he does not have any idea what is happening with Angela. Getting a cab to go back home, Angela is able to defuse a fight between her father and boyfriend, but then out of nowhere, she grabs the wheel to the car and forces it to crash. Being in a coma for forty days, Roger is forced to come to the decision to take his daughter off of life support. When the plug is pulled and it appears that Angela will pass away, she comes back around. Being kept in the hospital for observation, Angela is able to escape her room in the middle of the night and finds herself preparing to drown an infant until the hospital alarms go off. Trying to return to her room, she is caught by the security officers and now is being shipped off to a mental facility to evaluate her actions. With her only frequent visitor being Father Lozano, Angela has a distrust for the priest and when talking to Pete, she makes it known that she knows there is something inside of her that is taking over her mind and body. While Pete does not understand completely what is happening to her, Father Lozano does and when he gets a call from the Vatican, he finds out that he will be a part of his first exorcism. With the beast taking over Angela, nobody knows how powerful it is, but when conducting the rites on the girl, the seasoned priest sees that it is more than a possession, it could be the end of the world as we know it. I have always had a soft spot for possession movies, they just make me curious of what is really out there. One of the things that I liked most about the movie was the transformation of Angela and watching as she sees her world change around her. With both her father and boyfriend fighting for her affection, along with trying to fight off whatever is inside of her, she has her hands full at all times. I wish there could have been a little more explanation about why she was chosen as she does not seem to be a religious person and the writing of an article should not open the door to a possession. Besides that, I liked watching the distrust between Pete and Roger and Father Lozano trying to keep them together since they are the loved ones of the girl and she will need them now more than ever. With the beast free to roam the planet and take over whomever it sees fit, it may be more difficult to find him. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards Testing one’s relationship status is never fun, but it can be essential to making sure it will last a lifetime. Since nobody knows what the future has in store for them, even an accident can challenge the relationship to the point where one or both parties will walk away. It is difficult to even fathom that everything will not go right one day, and one person may want to leave for no other reason than feeling sorry for themselves, but it does happen. It is always important to give your relationship a hard look from time to time and if there is something that does not feel right about it, you may need to raise some questions before it is too late. While Lisa is meeting with her lawyer Steven about the case for her boyfriend who was injured severely in an accident, she finds out that they are not the only ones suffering. As Steven is working the case without compensation for the couple, he also wants to throw his name into the ring to start dating Lisa. While Lisa is not really looking, it is apparent to everyone that her boyfriend Sam is not the same man she fell in love with and now with the loss of movement in his legs, he continues to push her away. When dropping the gift that Steven has given her, Lisa sees a large opal that the two did not know was inside. Putting it away for a rainy day, Steven is slightly upset about the situation, but will continue to work his heart out for Lisa, both professionally and personally. As the Djinn awakens and finds that Steven is in love with Lisa, he offers the love torn lawyer a wish. Fulfilling Steven’s wish, the Djinn takes his soul payment quickly and is ready to change Lisa’s life, no matter the cost. As Lisa notices a change in the lawyer, the new Steven is much more upfront and seems to have a new fire in his heart for the case. Using her first wish to get the settlement taken care of, Lisa is astonished at how quickly it all comes together in their favor. Taking the news home to Sam, she is surprised that he is not happier about the situation and while he is going to be a rich man, he continues to be down on himself and Lisa for the loss of his legs. Not knowing what to do next, Lisa continues to go about her daily routines, but now is starting to see that Steven seems to be there at every turn. When being asked to make any wish in the world by Steven, Lisa comes up with her next one, to let Sam have the use of his legs back. With this being granted, Lisa returns home to see that Sam is back on his feet, but the attitude towards her is still a negative one. Seeing that life will not go back to the way it was, Lisa turns to her new best friend Steven and wishes that she fell in love with him instead. The third wish has been made, but this one the Djinn cannot grant since Lisa’s love will have to fulfill it. As the minions from hell are ready to come back to the planet, they try and push the Djinn to fulfill it, but the wish will take time to complete. But time is a factor as a Hunter has been released on the planet to find and kill Lisa before the wish can be fulfilled and the evil Djinns are released in the human realm once again. This was the first time in the movies that the Djinn knew who and where his wisher was right off the bat. Assuming Steven’s role in life, the Djinn is quick to move on Lisa who needed love in one way or another and he was more than willing to fill that void. Sam’s hatred for life was extremely sad but made for a great plot point in the story. Lisa’s love seemed to be for sale, but when all was said and done, she would never give up on Sam, no matter what he did to push her away. The Djinn waiting to reclaim the planet had to be the most entertaining part of this movie as they continue to pester the Djinn who was able to fulfill the quota of three wishes, but not deliver on the third. I guess that love conquers all when all is said and done, so you must remember that when trying to battle an evil Djinn when he comes knocking. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards Knowledge can most definitely be power, if, of course it is used in the right way. With so many people burying their noises in books while at school, most of them learn the material, but only some are able to utilize it for something more. While grades are the most important thing at school, actual learning takes a back seat to them which is a flaw in the system. Being able to understand the material rather than just being able to cram it into your head to take a test, most people forget everything that they learned while going to school and only hold on to what is actually important in the real world. Diana Collins is still suffering from the dream that has plagued her life since losing her parents in a car crash. Knowing that there was nothing that she could have done to have prevented it, she still feels guilty and cannot get over that terrible day. While she has a great support group around her with best friend Katie, Katie’s boyfriend Billy and her own boyfriend Greg, she can continue on, but there is still something missing in her life. eing one of the top of her class, Diana has many more opportunities to do something great with her future, but that does not seem to be enough for the here and now. With her top marks in class, Diana is invited to help Professor Barash at the museum with some new artifacts that have just arrived. Waiting for the professor to show up, Diana gets bored and starts looking at the new finds that have been shipped in, but an old Persian box has caught her eye. Looking at it while her vision is slowly starting to blur, she sees the Eye of God that is the hidden locking mechanism and gives it a push. Revealing a secret chamber to the box and a large red opal inside of it, Diana is impressed with her find and shows it to Professor Barash when he shows up. Being proud of his student for her find, he offers a celebration dinner, but he appears to be looking for more from the girl. Diana declines the invite to be with her boyfriend and while Barash is upset, he understands and goes to work on deciphering the markings on the box, but getting an uninvited visitor, Barash’s night is about to take a turn for the worse. The Djinn has returned to Earth and needs to find the person that woke him up and while Barash tries to protect his favorite student, he is no match for the ancient evil that has been unleashed before him. As the Djinn has been able to secure a new face to start his hunt, Diana is privy to seeing visions of people dying around the campus. Knowing that something happened to the professor, Diana tries to explain to her friends about what she has seen, but they believe that she is making it all up and that this is all some kind of a game. Being able to convince Katie and Greg to accompany her to the library to do a little more research on the Djinn, the two are starting to believe that she is telling the truth, but when Professor Barash shows up at her room, they know for sure that Diana is not crazy and they need to leave the campus as soon as possible. Being thrown into a game to which she does not know the rules, Diana is told to give the Djinn her three wishes so the world can be taken over by new management, but not wanting the end of the world to be her fault, Diana is forced to watch those closest to her be punished for her sins. The third installment of the Wishmaster series has changed up the story a bit and I can see why some people do not like it as much as its predecessors. The Djinn in this movie is more to the point than in the previous movies and does not play games with his new batch of souls, he just wants the one who woke him to make her wishes so his kind can take over the world. Using a religious attack on the Djinn, Diana sees in the old stories that God created the Angels and Man while Fire created the Djinn and believes that the Angels could defeat the vicious wish granters. Calling down the Archangel Michael to help her defeat the Djinn, she finds out quickly that there is more to the story than she could ever find in the books about the subject. Watching how Diana had to put her fears in the backseat to battle the Djinn was the highlight of the movie, but I am actually kind of a fan of the no nonsense Djinn that was put on the screen. No fun, no games, just wishes and death, and some graphic ones at that. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards A wish is worth a thousand words, or something like that. But when it comes to an evil Djinn that wants nothing more than your soul, it may be worth even more than that. It would be difficult to imagine getting everything that you ever wanted in the blink of an eye, but with the power of the Djinn, he can make your dreams come true, just make sure to phrase your wish correctly. Being trapped once again in the statue of Ahura Mazda, he is looking to get out and this time, to fulfill the prophecy. During their attempted robbery at the art gallery, Morgana and Eric have hit a little snag as the alarm is set off. Needing to get out of the building before being discovered, the two are caught in a shootout with the security team. Seeing something shiny blasted out of an old statue, Morgana picks it up and makes her way to the door but being shot in the chest was not what she expected. With the stone she picked up absorbing the blast, Morgana is alright, but Eric takes the next shot in the chest and knows that he will not be able to make it out of the art gallery alive. While waiting for death or the police, Eric gets a visit from the Djinn that has been awakened and has already set his plan in motion on how to release his kind upon the world. Taking the form of Nathaniel Demerest, the Djinn waits for the police to come in and arrest him. Knowing that he will be fine in prison, Nathaniel pleads guilty to the robbery, along with the murder of the guards inside of the gallery. Arriving in the penitentiary, Nathaniel makes it known to everyone around him that he will be able to grant them a wish as he is the Wishmaster and the cost of making their dreams come true is only their soul. Although everybody does not want their wishes granted, there are plenty that do, but when the boss of the prison yard thinks that Nathaniel is impeding on his business, he tries to take care of matters, but not knowing how powerful the Djinn really is, he is in store for a life changing event. Seeing that Nathaniel Demerest has taken the wrap for the botched robbery, Morgana is beside herself and cannot seem to get him out of her mind. Seeing visions of sinister actions, she has only one place that she can go to be comforted, the church. With her old friend Greg becoming a priest, Morgana knows that she can confide in him and he may be the only one to help her break free of her guilt. When trying to pinpoint the reason as to why she is having these strange visions, Morgana is able to find out some information about Ahura Mazda and that he was in charge of keeping evil spirits at bay. Even though she cannot understand why she is being targeted by this evil, she finds out that Nathaniel is a Djinn and the only reason he is here is to release his kind on the planet after she gives him her final wish. Knowing that it is her fault that the Djinn has been released, Morgana is ready to face him head on, but only knowing what she has read about the Djinn, she does not know what tricks he has up his sleeve. As far as sequels go, this is not the worst one I have ever seen, but not the best either. I did like seeing the Djinn come back and pick up right where he left off in the first movie and this time he will not be fooled. I liked how the storyline played out with the prison being the primary source of collecting souls and when that did not work, he had to move on to a new, less sophisticated brand of people. Morgana’s growth in the movie was great and watching her transform from a robber that doesn’t give a crap to a holy roller was really fun. Sometimes you never get to see it in a movie, but characters actually accepting responsibility for their actions is great and there should be more of it. Well, the Djinn may be back in his old home once again, but it appears that he will be coming back once more to try and take over the world in another movie, so keep your wishes to a minimum as you never know what they will cost you. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards Even through there might be a legend about something that seems out of this world, there is usually something behind it. As with our favorite Genie legends where they grant you wishes, they were actually derived from the Djinn who was far more sinister. Not knowing if these creatures actually existed or were made up to strike fear in the hearts of people wanting something that they could never get, we may never know. There is usually a reason why these stories are told and even though there may not be an evidence behind them, it does not mean that they are not true. After having a massive fire opal brought into his auction house, Nick wants the best of the best to appraise it for him. Once Alexandra comes back to work to take a look at this beautiful gem, Nick hovers over his worker until she can give him a definite answer to how much it is worth. But Alex notices something strange in the opal and needs her friend Josh to give it a look with all of his advanced hardware. Little does she know however that when she tried to clean the stone that she awakened an ancient evil that is looking to take over the world once again. While Josh is testing the stone, the opal breaks into four pieces and a creature is released from it into the world. Being able to grant anyone a single wish, the Djinn is free to walk the new world and has found that people are not against asking for something that they cannot do on their own. But the Djinn must find Alex and have her use her three wishes so he can summon his minions back to the earth. As the Djinn works his way through town, he is able to find himself a lead to where Alex may be hiding from him and talks to the owner of the auction house. With promises of more riches than he could ever imagine, with the Djinn’s help of course, Nick lets the information loose and the Djinn is able to locate Alex at the gym coaching her girls. Alex knows that there is something strange happening around her since her friend Josh was found dead in his lab and needs help. Turning to Raymond Beaumont who was having a statue delivered that killed his assistant and shattered all over the place, she is given the name of a professor that may be able to help her. Wendy Derleth knows all there is to know about the Djinn and passes on some of the information to Alex, but she needs more. With frightening images flashing in her head whenever the Djinn does something, Alex knows that it will find her and instead of trying to hide from it, she will have to face it head on. But little does Alex know that the Djinn is a trickster and if she wants to get away without using her wishes, she will have to phrase her wishes correctly to make sure that the world does not end on her account. This is a pretty dark look at how the Djinn should be received by the public, not a Genie that is there to grant wishes to make all of your dreams come true, but one that wants all of the power for itself. With an ace up its sleeve at all times, the Djinn is able to grant a single wish for anyone that wants it and the only tradeoff is that persons soul. I liked how even the Djinn says it himself, he has all the power in the world, but cannot use it unless a person makes a wish. I must admit that how the Djinn interprets the wishes is fantastic and it goes to show you that you need to think your wishes through very carefully before making them. This is a great start to the Wishmaster series, and I am pretty sure that in the second installment, we will be back to square one since there is no stopping the Djinn, only the hope of keeping him locked away in a stone for all of eternity.
